Happy Mother’s Day weekend!
I wanted to take a moment to say Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, Kathy, and my bonus mom, Joanne.
Thank you both for all the years of love, guidance, and motherhood we have shared together. God placed both of you in my life so I would always be surrounded by love, strength, and the devotion of family.
Most of us are blessed with mothers who brought us into this world. I know not everyone has the perfect relationship with their mom, but one thing remains true — God knew you before you were ever formed in your mother’s womb. He chose the path that would bring you into this world and shape your journey.
Some moms are naturally gifted in motherhood, while others simply do the best they can without a manual or instructions. Through life’s trials and tribulations, many mothers still wake up each day trying to make life meaningful and special for their children.
It takes all kinds of mothers to help raise a child in this fallen world.
Some mothers lovingly realize they cannot give a child the life they deserve and selflessly choose adoption, allowing another family to step in with love and care. Through this, we learn that blood alone does not define a parent.
Some families are shaped through divorce, loss, hardship, or unexpected life circumstances. Along the way, many children are blessed with bonus moms — women who choose to love a child they may not have brought into this world, yet embrace them wholeheartedly as their own. Love has no boundaries, and motherhood often grows through compassion, sacrifice, and unconditional care.
We live in a world filled with many kinds of moms. Some are auntie moms. Some are sister moms. Some are best-friend moms. No matter how the relationship begins, a motherly heart is a beautiful gift that adds love, comfort, and meaning to a family.
You do not have to give birth to be a mom. Sometimes being a blessing in someone’s life, showing up for them, loving them, and standing beside them is what truly makes a family.
I know not everyone is blessed with the picture-perfect family story. But whether you are a biological mom, adoptive mom, stepmom, bonus mom, foster mom, grandmother, or simply a woman who loves and nurtures others — you are deeply important to the people who look up to you and call you “Mom.”
I am personally so thankful for my mom, my bonus mom, many bonus friends’ moms, and a very special auntie mom who all helped shape my life. Each of them poured love, wisdom, and kindness into me, and I will forever cherish the impact they made on my heart.
I am also the proud mother of four wonderful adult children whom I love very much. I will always be grateful for my mom and bonus mom helping me raise them into good human beings. Sometimes it truly takes a village to raise children with love, kindness, and strength.
Whenever I needed help, encouragement, or support, these two women were always there — not only as wonderful mothers, but also as loving grandparents willing to step in however they could.
Today, I am also blessed to be a grandmother of six beautiful grandchildren. I love them more than words can say. I only wish my health allowed me to run beside them tirelessly and spend more time making memories together. Even so, I thank God every day for each one of them and treasure every moment I get to share with them.
To all mothers in every form — thank you for your love, sacrifice, patience, and strength.
Also, a very special Happy Mother’s Day to my Daughter Leighann who has blessed me with three wonderful grandchildren.
Happy Mother’s Day to my Bonus Daughter-n-law Katherine who has given me two beautiful granddaughter’s to love. And Im thankful for another bonus granddaughter, as well.
Happy Mother’s Day Weekend to all the amazing moms out there.
